The University of Nevada, Las Vegas offers a more predictable admission pathway than many students realize. Alongside its relatively high acceptance rate, UNLV publishes specific ways to qualify for first-year admission through core-course GPA, SAT or ACT scores, or qualifying Nevada high school diplomas.
The latest complete Common Data Set shows a roughly 83.9% acceptance rate for Fall 2025. But the most useful question is whether your own academic record satisfies one of UNLV’s published admission pathways—and whether your intended program, such as Nursing, has additional requirements.
Updated October 15, 2026. Includes Fall 2025 admissions statistics and guidance for the 2027–28 entering class.
12,820 admitted from 15,271 first-year applicants
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas admitted 12,820 of 15,271 first-time, first-year applicants for Fall 2025. That produces an acceptance rate of 83.95%, or approximately 83.9% when rounded to one decimal place under conventional rounding of the exact calculation.
UNLV’s official 2025–26 Common Data Set also reports 4,719 enrolled first-year students, a 3.40 average high school GPA and middle-50% score ranges of 1030–1240 SAT and 18–24 ACT among students who submitted those tests.
These figures describe Fall 2025 students. A separately finalized Fall 2026 first-year applicant-and-admit total has not been established in the reviewed official reports, so this article does not label the 2025 rate as a new Fall 2026 result.

UNLV Acceptance Rate: Official Fall 2025 Admissions Statistics
UNLV’s institutional research office publishes a Common Data Set that identifies first-year applicants, admitted students and enrolled students for a specified entering class. This is the most reliable starting point for calculating the university’s acceptance rate.
| Fall 2025 measure | Students | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Applicants | 15,271 | First-time, first-year students with actionable applications. |
| Admitted | 12,820 | Applicants offered admission to the university. |
| Enrolled | 4,719 | Admitted applicants who subsequently attended. |
| Calculated acceptance rate | 83.95% | Admission offers divided by applications. |
| Calculated enrollment yield | 36.8% | Enrolled students divided by admitted applicants. |
Why the acceptance rate isn’t the same as your individual chance
An 83.9% acceptance rate does not mean every applicant has an 83.9% probability of being admitted. It summarizes decisions made for an entire entering class.
One applicant may already satisfy the university’s 3.0 core GPA standard. Another may qualify through a 1120 SAT or 22 ACT. A third may need additional academic preparation. UNLV can admit students through several pathways, so comparing only the overall percentage hides important differences.
What does the enrollment yield tell us?
Approximately 36.8% of admitted Fall 2025 applicants enrolled. That is a substantially different measure from the acceptance rate.
Many students apply to multiple institutions, receive several offers and ultimately choose where to attend based on affordability, distance, degree options and personal circumstances.
The overall first-year acceptance figure covers general university admission. Professional or limited-entry programs can impose additional prerequisites, GPA expectations, applications and capacity limits. Nursing is a particularly important example.
Is UNLV Hard to Get Into?
For applicants who meet one of UNLV’s stated academic admission standards, the university is generally more accessible than colleges with highly selective holistic admissions.
However, UNLV is not an open-admission institution that accepts every high school graduate regardless of qualifications. It has defined academic standards, and the Common Data Set indicates that the rigor of the secondary school record and academic GPA are very important factors.
General university admission
Multiple qualifying routes
Students may qualify through a 3.0 GPA in 13 academic core units, an eligible SAT/ACT score or specified Nevada diploma credentials.
Competitive degree admission
Additional review possible
Programs such as Nursing have their own academic and professional admission conditions. General admission is only the first stage.
UNLV may be a realistic college option for many students whose academic record does not match the averages at highly selective universities. But applicants should make sure they meet actual requirements rather than relying on a vague description of the school as “easy.”
What GPA Do You Need to Get Into UNLV?
UNLV publishes a particularly useful admission route: a minimum 3.0 GPA across 13 required high school core units.
This is one pathway, not the only way to qualify. Students who do not meet that particular GPA standard may still qualify through a qualifying test score or diploma.
3.0 core GPA
Published freshman admission standard in 13 units of English, math, social science and natural science.
3.40 average GPA
Average reported high school GPA among Fall 2025 enrolled first-year students, according to UNLV’s Common Data Set.
Why the minimum GPA and average GPA are different
The minimum is an eligibility standard for a particular admissions route. The average describes students who actually enrolled.
An applicant with a 3.0 core GPA may satisfy the published academic standard, even though the enrolled-student average is 3.40. Conversely, a student with a 3.5 cumulative GPA should still verify whether the relevant core subjects satisfy the requirement.
High school GPA distribution
UNLV’s Fall 2025 Common Data Set reports the following GPA distribution in its score-reporting student column.
| High school GPA | Reported percentage | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 4.00 | 3.95% | A small group reported a perfect 4.0. |
| 3.75–3.99 | 20.60% | Strong academic grades are well represented. |
| 3.50–3.74 | 20.98% | Another large group of incoming students. |
| 3.25–3.49 | 20.40% | Common among the reported students. |
| 3.00–3.24 | 17.27% | Students around the published core-GPA threshold are represented. |
| 2.50–2.99 | 14.14% | Some students enroll through other qualifying routes or circumstances. |
| 2.00–2.49 | 2.33% | A smaller reported group. |
| 1.00–1.99 | 0.32% | Rare in the reported distribution. |
The Common Data Set lists GPA information for 98.18% of the entering class. Its detailed GPA-band percentages appear specifically in the column for students submitting standardized scores, with the other subgroup columns left blank. Consequently, these percentages should not be presented as verified rates for every enrolled freshman.
How should you interpret your own GPA?
| GPA situation | General interpretation | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| 3.5 or higher | Strong relative to UNLV’s overall enrolled-student average. | Confirm the correct core subjects and intended program prerequisites. |
| 3.0–3.49 core GPA | Meets the university’s published core-GPA admission pathway. | Check the 13-unit coursework calculation. |
| Below 3.0 core GPA | May still qualify using SAT, ACT or an eligible Nevada diploma. | Review alternative admission routes instead of assuming rejection. |
| Applying for Nursing or another selective major | General university admission alone may be insufficient. | Check separate program admission criteria. |
Before paying an application fee, make a simple list of your completed English, math, social science and natural science courses. Calculate the GPA for the required academic core instead of relying only on the overall GPA printed on your transcript.
UNLV High School Course Requirements: The 13-Core-Unit Rule
Applicants using the 3.0 GPA route need qualifying coursework across four academic subject groups.
| Academic subject | Required units | What to review |
|---|---|---|
| English | 4 | Four years of qualifying English coursework. |
| Mathematics | 3 | Appropriate secondary school mathematics courses. |
| Social science | 3 | Qualifying history, government or other social science coursework. |
| Natural science | 3 | Qualifying physical or biological sciences. |
| Total | 13 | GPA must be at least 3.0 for this admission route. |
What if your core GPA is below 3.0?
UNLV’s alternative eligibility routes include:
- At least 1120 SAT on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing plus Math.
- At least 22 ACT composite.
- A qualifying Nevada Advanced High School Diploma.
- A qualifying Nevada College and Career Ready High School Diploma.
The university’s policy uses the word OR. These are alternative ways of meeting general admission standards, not a requirement to meet all the conditions simultaneously.
A student with a 2.8 core GPA but a qualifying 23 ACT may meet UNLV’s general first-year admission requirements through the ACT route. The same student may not automatically meet a competitive major’s additional academic requirements.
UNLV SAT and ACT Scores: What Is Competitive in 2026?
UNLV is not best described simply as test-required or test-optional. The published admission policy allows qualifying applicants to enter through academic GPA or specific diploma credentials without needing a minimum SAT or ACT result.
SAT and ACT scores remain useful because they provide an alternative route for applicants who do not meet the 3.0 core GPA standard.
Official Fall 2025 score distribution
| Test | 25th percentile | Median | 75th percentile |
|---|---|---|---|
| SAT composite | 1030 | 1130 | 1240 |
| SAT Reading and Writing | 520 | 580 | 640 |
| SAT Math | 490 | 550 | 620 |
| ACT composite | 18 | 21 | 24 |
| ACT Math | 16 | 19 | 24 |
| ACT English | 17 | 21 | 25 |
SAT score submitters
10%
453 enrolled Fall 2025 first-year students submitted SAT results.
ACT score submitters
62%
2,822 enrolled Fall 2025 first-year students submitted ACT results.
Why is the average ACT below the admission route of 22?
This is an excellent example of why testing information must be explained carefully.
UNLV’s ACT admission route requires a composite score of 22, but the enrolled-student ACT median is 21. This is not necessarily a contradiction.
Students can qualify for admission through their core GPA or an eligible Nevada diploma, even when their submitted ACT score is below 22. A standardized test score is not the only route to enrollment.
Should you submit a 1000, 1100 or 1200 SAT?
If your 13-course core GPA is already at least 3.0, a test result is not needed to satisfy the published general GPA pathway.
If your GPA is below that threshold, achieving 1120 on the SAT or 22 on the ACT may create an alternative admissions route. A 1200 SAT exceeds that published threshold.
Applicants should still consider whether additional academic programs or placement requirements make testing useful.
UNLV testing codes
| Testing organization | UNLV reporting code |
|---|---|
| SAT | 4861 |
| ACT | 2496 |
UNLV may use SAT and ACT results for placement and advising in addition to admissions. The latest CDS identifies both among the tests used for placement.
What Factors Does UNLV Actually Consider in Admission Decisions?
UNLV’s latest Common Data Set provides an unusually clear distinction between the factors it emphasizes for general first-year admission and those it does not use.
| Factor | Official importance | Applicant implication |
|---|---|---|
| Rigor of high school courses | Very important | Academic preparation is central to general admission. |
| Academic GPA | Very important | The university assesses academic performance in relevant courses. |
| SAT/ACT scores | Considered | Can establish an alternative admission pathway or inform placement. |
| Class rank | Not considered | Not a selection factor under the general admissions framework. |
| Application essay | Not considered | Not part of general first-year selection. |
| Recommendations | Not considered | Not required for standard university admission. |
| Extracurricular activities | Not considered | May be relevant to special programs or scholarships separately. |
| Volunteer work and work experience | Not considered | Not used in general undergraduate admission selection. |
| State residency | Not considered | May affect tuition or other eligibility, but not listed as an admission factor. |
| Demonstrated interest | Not considered | A campus tour is not an admissions advantage under the general policy. |
| Alumni relationship | Not considered | No listed legacy admission preference. |
Why this is important
Many college admissions guides suggest that every applicant should write an exceptional essay, collect multiple recommendation letters and build a long extracurricular résumé.
That advice is not aligned with UNLV’s general first-year review. The institution primarily evaluates academic preparation and its published qualifying criteria.
An applicant applying to a special program, Honors College, scholarship or competitive professional degree may still need personal statements, auditions or supplementary materials. Those are separate processes.
If your main goal is ordinary UNLV first-year admission, verify your 13-unit GPA or qualifying test/diploma route first. Spend time resolving missing documents and checking deadlines rather than preparing an unsolicited recommendation package the general admissions process does not require.
UNLV Nursing, Hospitality, Engineering and Other Programs: Are They More Selective?
The 83.9% university-wide acceptance rate is not an official acceptance rate for Nursing, Hospitality, Engineering, Business or another specific degree.
Some UNLV programs have limited seats, prerequisite courses or separate professional admission stages.
| Program | Admissions distinction | Useful next step |
|---|---|---|
| School of Nursing BSN | Students initially enter pre-nursing; formal BSN admission is a separate process. | Review the Nursing Calculation Worksheet and current program admission cycles. |
| William F. Harrah College of Hospitality | General admission is separate from any specialized degree or internship requirements. | Examine the hospitality curriculum and experiential learning options. |
| Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering | Math and science placement and degree sequencing are particularly important. | Verify course prerequisites and degree progress requirements. |
| Lee Business School | Program progression and prerequisites can differ by business major. | Review the chosen major’s academic requirements. |
| Fine Arts and performance programs | Some specializations may have portfolio, audition or other assessment processes. | Consult the relevant department before applying. |
| Honors College | Additional admission selection beyond general university qualification. | Check the Honors application and separate deadlines. |
UNLV Nursing: The most important distinction
UNLV’s School of Nursing has a pre-nursing stage before students can apply to the 16-month traditional professional Nursing track.
The published pre-nursing advising guidance identifies the following eligibility considerations:
- Admission to UNLV as a degree-seeking pre-nursing student.
- A minimum 3.00 GPA under the listed program criteria.
- Approximately 62 credits earned or in progress at the time of application.
- Relevant prerequisite courses, including mathematics, chemistry, anatomy/physiology-related coursework, microbiology and Nursing-specific classes.
- A formal application through Health Sciences advising.
When can pre-nursing students apply for the BSN?
UNLV generally admits to the traditional Nursing track three times each year:
| Application period | Program entry |
|---|---|
| June | Fall BSN entry |
| October | Spring BSN entry |
| February | Summer BSN entry |
Important 2026 Nursing policy update
On September 8, 2026, the School of Nursing officially retracted an earlier announced change to BSN prerequisite completion rules.
The university clarified that the earlier policy change would not take effect as announced and that the existing admission policy still permits certain prerequisite coursework to be in progress during the application semester.
Applicants should follow the current School of Nursing admission worksheet and Health Sciences advising instructions. The September 2026 retraction is important because older emails or shared screenshots may describe requirements that UNLV has explicitly withdrawn.

UNLV Application Deadlines for Fall 2027 Entry
UNLV’s ordinary first-year admission schedule is different from colleges offering traditional Early Decision and Early Action rounds.
The university’s latest Common Data Set states that UNLV does not offer an Early Decision or Early Action first-year plan. Its November 15 date is instead an important admission and financial aid priority deadline.
Students seeking aid for the academic year beginning Fall 2027 can begin the relevant applications.
Eligible Clark County School District seniors invited through UNLV’s One Admit process should claim their offered place by the program’s stated deadline.
Incoming first-year applicants should be admitted and have completed both required aid applications by the priority deadline to receive maximum institutional consideration.
UNLV’s official first-year admissions page lists June 1 as the fall application deadline.
The university’s published 2027–28 financial aid and academic timeline identifies this as the start of Fall 2027 instruction and late registration.
Relevant for students seeking spring entry. Verify the exact academic year’s admission calendar and program requirements.
UNLV states that incoming students must be admitted and have completed the applicable financial aid applications by this date for priority institutional grant and scholarship consideration. Waiting until the June 1 application deadline may leave fewer funding opportunities.
Does UNLV offer Early Decision or Early Action?
No. The official 2025–26 Common Data Set marks both Early Decision and Early Action as unavailable for general first-year undergraduate admission.
Do not label UNLV’s scholarship priority deadline as an Early Action application round.
How to Apply to UNLV: Step-by-Step
Choose the correct application route
First-time undergraduate students may use the UNLV application or Common Application under the university’s published first-year admission process.
Check the 13-unit core GPA
Confirm whether you have at least a 3.0 GPA in the required English, math, social science and natural science courses—or whether you qualify through testing or an approved diploma.
Select your intended major carefully
General admission and degree admission are not always identical. Students interested in Nursing, Engineering, Honors or other specialized pathways should check additional requirements.
Submit your application and fee
UNLV currently lists a $60 nonrefundable application fee for domestic first-year applicants. Eligible students should check available application fee waivers.
Arrange required academic documentation
Provide official high school records and qualifying test results when relevant. Follow any document requests in your UNLV admissions account.
Complete FAFSA and the Institutional Aid Application
For 2027–28, incoming undergraduate students seeking UNLV institutional aid must complete both applications under the university’s published requirements.
Monitor your offer and enrollment instructions
After admission, review academic advising, orientation, placement and course registration requirements before the first semester begins.
General first-year application checklist
| Application component | Requirement | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| UNLV or Common Application | Required | Complete the appropriate undergraduate application. |
| High school academic record | Required | Used to confirm admission eligibility. |
| Core GPA | One eligibility route | 3.0 or higher in 13 qualifying units. |
| SAT/ACT | Alternative eligibility route | 1120 SAT or 22 ACT if using those routes. |
| Qualifying Nevada diploma | Alternative eligibility route | Advanced or College and Career Ready diploma. |
| Application essay | Not required in general first-year review | Special programs may differ. |
| Recommendations | Not required in general first-year review | Special programs may differ. |
| Domestic application fee | $60 | Nonrefundable; check fee-waiver eligibility. |
| Financial aid applications | Separate from admission | FAFSA and IAA required for incoming institutional aid consideration. |
Clark County School District Students: What Is UNLV One Admit?
UNLV has introduced a direct outreach pathway for eligible Clark County School District seniors, called One Admit.
The university’s first-year admissions page states that participating CCSD seniors can use their district email credentials to view preloaded information and claim their place in the UNLV Rebel Class of 2031 without paying the standard application fee.
The current program information gives November 1 as the claim deadline.
If you attend a CCSD high school, ask your counselor whether you are eligible for One Admit before paying the usual application fee. The program is not a substitute for completing any separate financial aid application and is not necessarily available to students outside the eligible district population.
UNLV Transfer Acceptance Rate and Requirements
UNLV’s 2025–26 Common Data Set provides a separate, unusually useful set of figures for transfer students.
First-year admission
83.9%
Fall 2025 first-time freshman admission rate.
Transfer admission
90.0%
3,411 transfer students admitted from 3,792 applicants in Fall 2025.
Official Fall 2025 transfer data
| Transfer measure | Reported count |
|---|---|
| Applicants | 3,792 |
| Admitted transfer students | 3,411 |
| Enrolled transfer students | 2,184 |
| Calculated acceptance rate | 90.0% |
| Calculated admission yield | 64.0% |
UNLV transfer GPA requirement
UNLV’s general transfer admission standard requires a 2.5 GPA in transferable college coursework.
Applicants with fewer than 24 transferable college-level credits should be prepared to submit high school credentials showing that they also satisfy the first-year admission standards.
This requirement concerns general university admission. Some academic majors have separate GPA, prerequisite and program admission rules.
Fall transfer deadlines
| Transfer milestone | Published deadline |
|---|---|
| Financial aid and scholarship priority | March 15 |
| General fall transfer application | July 1 |
| General spring application | December 1 |
College of Southern Nevada transfer advice
Students attending the College of Southern Nevada should compare their completed courses against UNLV’s degree plans and transferable-credit policies.
Meeting the 2.5 transfer GPA requirement is an important starting point, but a course may transfer as an elective without satisfying a specific major prerequisite.
If your intended major is Nursing, Engineering or another sequential program, meet with an advisor before selecting courses at CSN. Taking the wrong prerequisite can delay degree progression even if the credits technically transfer.
Does UNLV Have Early Decision, Early Action or a First-Year Waitlist?
UNLV’s Fall 2025 Common Data Set confirms that it does not operate ordinary binding Early Decision or nonbinding Early Action plans for first-year admission.
Students should not interpret the November 15 aid priority deadline as an Early Action admission round.
The official first-year waitlist section does not establish a separate, usable Fall 2025 admitted-from-waitlist percentage. It would be misleading to invent one or use a different university’s waitlist statistics.
The university also allows admitted students to request deferred admission for up to one year under its published policy, subject to the applicable approval and enrollment conditions.
UNLV International Undergraduate Admissions
International applicants seeking to study on an F-1 visa follow the university’s international undergraduate admission process.
Academic eligibility
UNLV’s international first-year policy lists the following alternative general qualification routes:
- A 3.0 cumulative high school GPA, or
- An 1120 SAT, or
- A 22 ACT composite.
International transfer students generally need a 2.5 GPA across at least 24 transferable college-level credits. Those with fewer credits must also satisfy the first-year academic requirements.
International application deadlines
| Requirement | Deadline |
|---|---|
| Fall first-year priority | November 15 |
| Fall first-year application | June 1 |
| Fall transfer priority | March 15 |
| Fall transfer application | July 1 |
| Spring application | December 1 |
| Initial I-20 processing deadline | Approximately six weeks before the semester begins |
English proficiency and immigration documents
International applicants may need accepted English-language proficiency evidence and supporting school records, depending on their education history and program.
Some specialized programs can require a higher English-language standard than general undergraduate admission. For example, UNLV’s nursing handbook separately identifies language-proficiency thresholds for students applying to its professional Nursing program.
Students should verify accepted examination formats, exemptions, financial certification and I-20 procedures with International Admissions before arranging tests or paying deposits.
The academic admission deadline is not necessarily a practical deadline for obtaining a U.S. student visa. Submit an application early enough to complete financial certification, receive the I-20 and schedule immigration appointments.

UNLV Tuition, Financial Aid and Scholarships for 2026–27
UNLV is a Nevada public university, and the price of attendance differs significantly for Nevada residents, out-of-state U.S. students and international applicants.
2026–27 tuition and mandatory fees
| Undergraduate classification | Published annual tuition and fees |
|---|---|
| Nevada resident | $11,231 |
| Out-of-state U.S. student | $31,420 |
| International undergraduate student | $31,710 |
These tuition-and-fee estimates assume UNLV’s standard full-time planning workload. They include the applicable one-time undergraduate new-student fee. International students may also need mandatory health insurance, which the published tuition table lists separately.
Complete cost of attendance for 2026–27
UNLV’s financial aid budget includes housing, food, books, transportation and personal expenses, not just billed university charges.
| Living arrangement | Nevada resident annual budget | Nonresident annual budget |
|---|---|---|
| On campus | $30,683 | $50,284 |
| Off campus, shared housing | $33,629 | $53,230 |
| With parents and commuting | $24,824 | $44,425 |
These are estimated annual budgets for financial aid purposes, not guarantees of the amount each student will pay. Actual costs depend on housing, credit load, tuition classification, financial aid and other circumstances.
2027–28 estimates for applicants entering Fall 2027
| 2027–28 estimated expense | Nevada resident | Nonresident |
|---|---|---|
| Annual tuition and fees | $12,014 | $33,851 |
| Estimated on-campus cost of attendance | $32,745 | $54,582 |
| Estimated off-campus cost of attendance | $36,457 | $58,294 |
| Estimated commuting-from-home cost | $26,807 | $48,644 |
These are particularly relevant because a student applying in October 2026 is often preparing for the Fall 2027 entering class, not the Fall 2026 class already attending.
UNLV FAFSA school code
Use 002569 on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
The 2027–28 Institutional Aid Application is also required
For incoming undergraduate first-year and transfer students seeking institutional aid in 2027–28, UNLV says students must complete both FAFSA and the Institutional Aid Application (IAA).
The IAA is completed through the Rebel Success Hub.
FAFSA
Federal School Code 002569
The federal financial aid application used for eligible students seeking government and university-related financial aid.
Institutional Aid Application
Rebel Success Hub
A separate UNLV application required for incoming students to receive consideration for the university’s institutional scholarships and grants.
UNLV Signature and Opportunity Scholarships
UNLV’s scholarship office publishes two prominent institutional aid programs:
- UNLV Signature: An academic scholarship offered in connection with admission, recognizing academic achievement.
- UNLV Opportunity: An award based on academic achievement and financial need.
Initial consideration generally requires full admission to UNLV and completed FAFSA and IAA materials by the applicable priority deadline. Award values vary.
UNLV states that these scholarships can be renewable for up to 135 attempted credits under the published requirements, including full-time enrollment and satisfactory cumulative academic progress.
For first-year students entering Fall 2027, UNLV lists November 15, 2026 as the priority deadline for admission and financial aid requirements. Completing only the university application or only FAFSA may not satisfy all institutional scholarship conditions.

Las Vegas-Specific Tips Before Choosing UNLV
UNLV’s main campus is in Paradise, near the Las Vegas Strip and Harry Reid International Airport. Although Las Vegas is famous for tourism, the university’s everyday academic environment includes research laboratories, healthcare programs, engineering facilities, libraries, residence halls and commuter students.
That location creates advantages but also practical questions about summer heat, transportation, parking, work opportunities and where students choose to live.
Know the main campus address
University of Nevada, Las Vegas
4505 S. Maryland Parkway
Las Vegas, NV 89154
The Office of Admissions is in the Student Services Complex, Building B (SSC-B).
Campus visit parking can be free
Students registered for official admissions tours receive a parking permit by email before their visit. The university directs visitors to the Tropicana Parking Garage near the Thomas & Mack Center.
Print and display the event-specific parking permit to avoid citations.
Arriving from Harry Reid International Airport
The airport is relatively close to campus, but your arrival time and traffic conditions still matter. For campus tours, UNLV recommends using the Student Recreation & Wellness Center as the rideshare drop-off point.
Las Vegas heat changes campus life
Late spring and summer temperatures can be extreme. UNLV modifies campus tour schedules during periods of high heat.
Students should consider hydration, shaded walking routes and travel timing instead of assuming outdoor campus activities are comfortable throughout the day.
How long does a UNLV campus tour take?
The university’s standard guided undergraduate visit includes:
| Visit activity | Typical duration |
|---|---|
| Admissions overview presentation | 30 minutes |
| Guided campus tour | 90 minutes |
| Optional residence hall tour | 30 minutes |
| Optional admissions counselor meeting | As scheduled |
Plan approximately two hours for the standard presentation and tour, with additional time for optional activities.
Explore the actual program facilities
UNLV offers separate College Spotlight Tours for some academic areas. Students interested in Hospitality, Engineering, Health Sciences or another specific college should consider one of these more focused visits.
The university also offers a Shadow a Rebel experience, where prospective students can spend time with a current student, attend a class and explore campus life. Requests generally require at least 10 business days of advance notice.
Local transportation and commuting
UNLV serves many commuting students from across the Las Vegas Valley. Before committing to a rental or a particular housing option, consider routes from Henderson, Summerlin, North Las Vegas and other neighborhoods.
A shorter distance on a map does not always mean a predictable commute during peak traffic periods. Parking, public transit and class schedules all affect the experience.
If you plan to commute rather than live on campus, visit during the time of day you expect to attend classes. Check parking availability, walking distance to your academic buildings and what happens to your travel schedule if you have an early morning lecture or an evening laboratory.
What about nearby internships and employment?
The Las Vegas region offers opportunities in hospitality, entertainment, business, healthcare, logistics, government and technology.
But proximity to employers is not a guarantee of an internship. Ask the relevant UNLV academic department about internship support, eligibility, required courses and actual placement processes.

What Does UNLV’s Entering Student Profile Tell Us?
The Fall 2025 Common Data Set offers more information about academic preparation than the acceptance rate alone.
| Published enrolled-student metric | Figure | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Average reported high school GPA | 3.40 | Among students who submitted GPA information. |
| Students submitting high school GPA | 98.18% | Share of the entering class. |
| Students reporting high school class rank | 98.18% | According to the CDS class-rank section. |
| Top tenth of class | 21.08% | Among students who reported rank. |
| Top quarter of class | 48.59% | Among students who reported rank. |
| Top half of class | 79.94% | Among students who reported rank. |
| Median SAT composite, score submitters | 1130 | Not a required minimum. |
| Median ACT composite, score submitters | 21 | Not a required minimum. |
UNLV classifies high school rank as not considered in general admission, even though it publishes rank information about the students who enrolled. Collecting or reporting an academic statistic does not necessarily mean it affects individual admissions decisions.
This distinction is important because college profiles frequently list every available measure without explaining whether the university actually uses it to select applicants.
How to Improve Your Chances of Admission to UNLV
A strong UNLV application begins with confirming eligibility, not adding unnecessary documents.
Verify your core-course GPA
Calculate the GPA for the four required subject groups. If it is at least 3.0, you may qualify through the standard academic route.
Look at alternative eligibility routes when necessary
Students below the core GPA threshold should examine the 1120 SAT, 22 ACT and Nevada diploma options rather than assuming they cannot attend UNLV.
Check your intended major’s separate requirements
General admission is different from a limited-entry professional program. Nursing applicants especially need to understand the pre-nursing and BSN selection process.
Apply early for financial aid eligibility
The November 15 aid deadline can be more significant financially than the later June 1 general application deadline.
Make sure your application is complete
Provide required transcripts and any testing needed for your qualification route. Monitor your UNLV account for missing materials.
Understand the campus experience before committing
Visit the academic college you want, compare commuting and residence costs, and explore the financial aid offer rather than making a decision solely because UNLV admits a high percentage of applicants.
Is UNLV a Reach, Target or Likely School?
UNLV’s published admission pathways make general admission more predictable for academically qualified students than at institutions relying primarily on competitive holistic review.
| Applicant situation | General interpretation | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 3.0 or higher qualifying core GPA | Meets the university’s published GPA admission route. | Required courses, documentation and major-specific conditions. |
| Below 3.0 core GPA with 1120+ SAT | May qualify through the SAT route. | Official score evidence and applicable program requirements. |
| Below 3.0 core GPA with 22+ ACT | May qualify through the ACT route. | Valid test records and degree eligibility. |
| Qualifying Nevada high school diploma | May qualify through a state diploma route. | Exact credential and university verification. |
| Applying to Nursing or another limited-entry program | General UNLV admission alone does not establish program admission. | Prerequisites, professional application and available seats. |
These statements reflect published eligibility pathways, not a guarantee that every applicant will automatically receive an offer under every circumstance. Admissions staff can review unusual records or missing requirements individually.
Frequently Asked Questions About UNLV Acceptance Rate 2026
1. What is UNLV’s acceptance rate in 2026?
The latest complete official first-year acceptance rate is approximately 83.9% for Fall 2025. UNLV admitted 12,820 of 15,271 first-year applicants. The final Fall 2026 admission rate should not be described as verified without a matching official cohort report.
2. Is UNLV hard to get into?
UNLV is relatively accessible for applicants meeting its stated admission standards. General first-year admission can be achieved through a 3.0 core GPA, a qualifying 1120 SAT or 22 ACT, or certain approved Nevada high school diplomas. Some academic programs have additional requirements.
3. What GPA do you need to get into UNLV?
One published admission route requires at least a 3.0 GPA in 13 core high school units. Students may also qualify through the university’s alternate SAT, ACT or Nevada diploma routes. The average Fall 2025 enrolled-student high school GPA was 3.40.
4. What SAT score is required for UNLV?
An SAT composite score of at least 1120 is one qualifying general admission route. Applicants satisfying the 3.0 core GPA pathway or an eligible Nevada diploma route do not necessarily need that score to qualify. The middle-50% SAT range among Fall 2025 score submitters was 1030–1240.
5. What ACT score do you need for UNLV?
UNLV lists a 22 ACT composite as one admission eligibility route. Students qualifying through core GPA or an approved Nevada diploma do not need to satisfy every alternate route. The Fall 2025 middle-50% ACT range among score submitters was 18–24.
6. Does UNLV offer Early Action or Early Decision?
No. UNLV’s 2025–26 Common Data Set lists neither Early Action nor Early Decision for general freshman admission. The November 15 priority date concerns admission completion and institutional financial aid and scholarship consideration.
7. What is the UNLV Nursing acceptance rate?
A separate verified Fall 2026 BSN admission acceptance percentage was not established from the reviewed official sources. UNLV’s Nursing program has a separate selection process after pre-nursing prerequisites. The university’s overall 83.9% admission rate should not be used as the BSN program’s rate.
8. What is UNLV’s transfer acceptance rate?
For Fall 2025, the official Common Data Set reports 3,792 transfer applicants and 3,411 admits, producing a calculated transfer acceptance rate of approximately 90.0%. General transfer admission typically requires a 2.5 GPA in transferable coursework, with additional high school requirements for students below 24 transferable credits.
9. What is UNLV’s application deadline for Fall 2027?
The current first-year admission page lists June 1 as the general fall application deadline. However, November 15, 2026 is the priority deadline for first-year scholarship and financial aid consideration, and applicants generally must already be admitted and have completed the required financial aid applications by that date.
10. What is UNLV’s FAFSA school code?
UNLV’s federal FAFSA school code is 002569. For 2027–28, incoming undergraduates seeking institutional aid must complete both FAFSA and UNLV’s Institutional Aid Application through the Rebel Success Hub.

Research methodology: The Fall 2025 first-year acceptance rate is calculated from 12,820 admitted applicants and 15,271 applications reported in the 2025–26 Common Data Set. The transfer acceptance rate is calculated separately from 3,411 admits and 3,792 transfer applicants. The 3.40 GPA and SAT/ACT percentiles describe enrolled students, not all applicants. Major-specific admission percentages are omitted where an official applicant/admit cohort could not be verified. Financial aid and tuition figures are identified by their academic years.
Final Assessment: Is UNLV a Realistic College Choice?
For many academically prepared applicants, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is a realistic choice. Its latest verified first-year acceptance rate is approximately 83.9%, and its published admission routes provide clarity about how students can qualify.
The most important step is to check your own eligibility. A 3.0 core GPA, 1120 SAT, 22 ACT or qualifying Nevada high school diploma can satisfy a general admission route. Students targeting Nursing or another specialized program must separately understand that program’s selection process.
If you plan to enroll in Fall 2027, pay particular attention to the November 15, 2026 financial aid priority deadline. Then compare the actual tuition classification, housing costs and scholarship conditions. A good college decision should work academically, financially and personally—not simply appear attractive because of a high acceptance rate.
