Scripps College Acceptance Rate 2026: GPA, SAT & Admissions Guide

Scripps College is a selective women’s liberal arts college in Southern California, offering a close-knit undergraduate environment alongside the shared academic opportunities of The Claremont Colleges.

Its acceptance rate tells only part of the story. Scripps considers demanding high school courses, academic performance, essays, recommendations, intellectual curiosity and personal qualities. Students also have the option to apply without SAT or ACT scores.

This guide uses the college’s latest published Common Data Set to explain the real admissions numbers, Early Decision differences, testing benchmarks, GPA expectations, waitlist results and application deadlines.

Quick answer: What is Scripps College’s acceptance rate in 2026?

The latest complete official Common Data Set reports a 39.9% first-year acceptance rate for Fall 2025. Scripps College received 3,230 applications, admitted 1,288 students and enrolled 301 first-year students. The final Fall 2026 acceptance rate should not be assumed to be the same until the corresponding institutional admission figures are available.

Scripps is test-optional. Among enrolled Fall 2025 students who submitted scores, the middle 50% scored 1430–1500 on the SAT or 32–34 on the ACT. The college does not publish a standardized average high school GPA for that cohort because it considers GPA scales difficult to compare across schools.

Scripps College Acceptance Rate: Official Fall 2025 Admissions Numbers

Scripps is much smaller than most universities. Its Fall 2025 entering class included just 301 first-year students, so changes in application volume and admission offers can influence the overall acceptance percentage noticeably.

Admission measureFall 2025 resultMeaning
First-year applications3,230Completed applicants counted in the admission cycle.
Students admitted1,288Applicants offered a place.
Students enrolled301Admitted applicants who joined the entering class.
Acceptance rate39.9%1,288 divided by 3,230.
Enrollment yield23.4%301 divided by 1,288.

A 39.9% acceptance rate means that approximately four out of ten applicants received admission offers in this particular cohort. It does not mean every student with a strong GPA has a four-in-ten chance.

The admitted applicant pool includes students applying through Early Decision and Regular Decision. Their preparation, qualifications and commitment to Scripps are not identical.

2026 reporting distinction:

The document is named the 2025–2026 Common Data Set because that is its academic reporting period. Its undergraduate admission counts are for Fall 2025 entry. A guide titled “Scripps College Acceptance Rate 2026” should disclose the entering year instead of implying these are completed Fall 2026 results.

Scripps Acceptance Rate Trends: Has Admission Become More Competitive?

Historical data helps explain whether one annual acceptance rate is unusual. For Scripps, the latest two published Common Data Sets show that applications remained relatively stable while the number of admitted students changed modestly.

Bars use a 100% scale. Percentages were calculated from the relevant official Common Data Set applicant and admission totals.

The acceptance rate increased slightly, from 38.3% in Fall 2024 to 39.9% in Fall 2025. That is a change of approximately 1.6 percentage points.

This difference does not establish a broad shift toward easier admission. Both cohorts were selective, and future results may change as applicants, academic interests and enrollment targets change.

Scripps Acceptance Rates for California, Out-of-State and International Applicants

Scripps reports applicant data by residency in its Fall 2025 Common Data Set. These figures show meaningful differences across groups, but should not be mistaken for individual admission probabilities.

Applicant residencyAppliedAdmittedCalculated admit rateEnrolled
California1,47764543.7%135
Other U.S. states1,30456243.1%155
International4498118.0%11
Overall3,2301,28839.9%301

The California and other U.S. applicant groups had similar observed admission rates. International applicants had a much lower overall admit rate of approximately 18%.

This is not proof that applicants from any particular country have exactly an 18% chance. International applicants differ in their academic qualifications, intended areas of study, financial circumstances and application profiles.

Does being from California improve admission chances?

Scripps marks state residency as not considered in its general admission selection factors. Geographic residence is considered, but the observed differences should not be treated as a residency-based admissions preference.

Local applicant perspective:

If you attend a high school in Claremont, Pomona, La Verne, Upland or another nearby Southern California community, familiarity with the college can help you decide whether its environment suits you. But living nearby does not create an official in-state admission advantage at this private college.

What GPA Do You Need to Get Into Scripps College?

Scripps College does not publish an official average high school GPA for the Fall 2025 enrolled class in its Common Data Set.

The college explicitly explains that it no longer reports high school GPA statistics because of differences between weighted, unweighted and other grading systems.

Important: Be cautious of websites claiming an exact Scripps GPA average.

Third-party sites sometimes list numbers such as 3.8 or 3.9. Those may be estimates, older reporting figures or calculations derived from different grading systems. They should not be described as the verified Fall 2025 GPA average when Scripps itself leaves that field unreported.

The better way to assess academic competitiveness is to examine the college’s recommended curriculum, course rigor, class-rank information and academic review priorities.

Recommended high school coursework

Scripps recommends that students study five academic subjects in each high school year, including:

Academic subjectRecommended preparationApplicant advice
English4 yearsDevelop reading, analysis and written argument skills.
Mathematics3 or more yearsPrecalculus or a higher level is encouraged.
Social studies3 or more yearsShow sustained engagement with history, government or related disciplines.
Natural sciences3 or more yearsBiology, chemistry and/or physics.
World languages3 years in one language or 2 years each in two languagesOne qualifying year may be completed before high school.
Advanced courseworkAs available and appropriateHonors, AP, IB or other challenging courses can strengthen the academic record.

How strong is the entering class academically?

Although Scripps no longer reports an average GPA, its Common Data Set provides high school class-rank information for the subset of students whose schools submitted rank.

63%

Of class-rank-reporting students were in the top 10% of their high school graduating class.

90%

Of class-rank-reporting students were in the top 25% of their graduating class.

These numbers suggest strong academic preparation, but there is an important limitation: only 13% of entering first-year students had class-rank information reported.

It would be incorrect to claim that 90% of all Scripps freshmen graduated in the top quarter of their high school classes.

Is a 3.5, 3.7 or 4.0 GPA competitive?

An applicant with a strong GPA in challenging academic courses may be competitive academically. However, Scripps gives significant importance to essays, personal qualities and the broader learning environment in addition to grades.

The same GPA can represent different achievement depending on available courses, academic grading policies and the student’s responsibilities outside class.

How to interpret your own transcript:

Rather than asking whether a 3.7 automatically qualifies for Scripps, review whether your grades reflect consistent academic effort, whether you took demanding courses when available and whether your intended academic interests are supported by coursework and independent exploration.

Scripps College SAT and ACT Scores for 2026 Admissions

Scripps remains test-optional. Applicants do not need to submit SAT or ACT results, and the college states that students who apply without standardized testing are not disadvantaged in the review process.

For students who choose to submit scores, the Fall 2025 Common Data Set provides useful benchmarks.

Test measure25th percentileMedian75th percentile
SAT composite143014801500
SAT Reading and Writing730750770
SAT Math690720750
ACT composite323334
ACT English343536
ACT Math283033
ACT Reading353636
ACT Science313334

How many enrolled students submitted scores?

SAT submitters

19%

57 of the 301 entering first-year students submitted SAT results.

ACT submitters

12%

37 of the 301 entering first-year students submitted ACT results.

The middle-50% score ranges describe students who submitted results, not every applicant or admitted student.

Should you submit a 1400, 1480 or 1530 SAT?

The reported median SAT is 1480 and the 75th percentile is 1500. A score of 1530 therefore exceeds the published upper quartile among score submitters.

A score of 1400 falls slightly below the reported 25th percentile but is still strong in a national context. Whether submitting it helps depends on the complete application.

If your SAT does not accurately represent your academic preparation, Scripps allows you to apply without the result.

Does Scripps superscore the SAT and ACT?

Yes. Scripps states that it superscores SAT and ACT results across test dates when students choose to submit them.

For the ACT, the science section is not required, although the college will review it if the applicant submits it.

Scripps does not combine scores from the older and newer SAT formats when calculating its superscore.

The current admissions policy lists December 4 as the deadline for changing the standardized-testing decision for Early Decision I and January 18 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision. Confirm the exact instructions in your applicant portal.

What Does Scripps College Actually Consider in Admission Decisions?

Scripps describes a holistic and thorough application review. Its Common Data Set identifies the factors receiving the greatest weight in the selection process.

Admission factorOfficial importanceHow applicants should respond
High school course rigorVery importantTake the strongest appropriate academic program available.
Academic GPAVery importantBuild a consistent record of strong academic performance.

State residencyNot consideredLiving in California does not create an official residency preference.
Alumni relationshipNot consideredLegacy relationships are not a published selection factor.
Religious affiliationNot consideredNo particular religious background is required for admission.
Demonstrated interestNot consideredVisit because you want to learn about the college, not because tours earn admissions points.

Why essays matter unusually much

Scripps marks the application essay as very important, alongside grades and course rigor. That does not mean students need a dramatic personal story.

An essay can be effective when it demonstrates genuine reflection and shows how an applicant responds to ideas, people or challenges.

A student who developed an interest in public policy through helping neighbors navigate local services may have a valuable story. So may a student who learned patience and scientific thinking through an unsuccessful research project.

The details are what make an essay convincing. Generic claims about leadership, kindness or ambition rarely communicate much by themselves.

A practical writing exercise:

After drafting an essay, remove the college name and read it again. Could the same paragraph appear in applications to ten unrelated universities? If so, consider whether the writing shows enough of your actual interests, experiences and perspective.

Scripps College Application Deadlines for Fall 2027

Scripps offers Early Decision I, Early Decision II and Regular Decision for first-year undergraduate applicants. It does not list a nonbinding Early Action plan.

Its admissions website contains both a general deadline table and cycle-specific first-year guidance. For the 2027 entry cycle, applicants should follow the most recent dates shown on the first-year applicant page and confirm them through the application portal.

Application roundFall 2027 application deadlineDecision timingBinding?
Early Decision INovember 16, 2026Mid-DecemberYes
Early Decision IIJanuary 14, 2027Mid-FebruaryYes
Regular DecisionJanuary 14, 2027By April 1No
Regular Decision replyMay 1, 2027Standard enrollment decision dateNot applicable

Interview deadlines

An admission interview is optional. The current interview page lists the following timing:

  • Early Decision I interview requests: November 1.
  • Early Decision II and Regular Decision interview requests: December 16.
  • Early Decision I interviews completed by November 15.
  • Early Decision II and Regular Decision interviews completed by January 15.

Because interview availability is limited, students who want one should schedule it well before the deadline.

Financial aid deadlines

Scripps College lists a separate deadline for submitting financial aid documentation through IDOC:

Admission round2027–28 financial aid materials deadline
Early Decision INovember 15, 2026
Early Decision IIJanuary 31, 2027
Regular DecisionJanuary 31, 2027
Important deadline distinction:

The admission application deadline is not necessarily the same as the financial aid deadline. A student may submit the Common Application on time but still jeopardize financial aid eligibility by missing the CSS Profile or requested IDOC documentation deadline.

Official pages: First-Year Applicants, Admissions Deadlines and Financial Aid Deadlines.

Does Early Decision Improve Your Chances at Scripps?

Early Decision is a binding application plan. Applicants who are admitted generally commit to enrolling at Scripps and withdraw other active college applications, subject to applicable financial aid considerations.

The Fall 2025 Common Data Set provides a separate combined Early Decision applicant-and-admit total.

Early Decision admission

51.3%

141 admitted among 275 Early Decision applicants in Fall 2025.

Overall first-year admission

39.9%

1,288 admitted among all 3,230 first-year applicants.

The observed Early Decision admit rate was higher than the overall rate. However, this does not prove that applying Early Decision automatically increases an individual student’s chance of being admitted.

Early Decision applicants are a self-selected group. They may have different academic qualifications, knowledge of the college and readiness to make a binding commitment.

Can we calculate an exact Regular Decision acceptance rate?

The Common Data Set reports combined Early Decision applications and admissions, but the remaining applicant group should not automatically be labeled “Regular Decision” without accounting for application-round definitions, deferred applications and institutional reporting methods.

A simple subtraction can produce a residual admission ratio, but it is not necessarily the official Regular Decision acceptance rate. This guide therefore does not present that arithmetic as a verified RD rate.

When Early Decision makes sense:

Apply Early Decision if Scripps is genuinely your first choice, you have completed a strong application and your family understands the financial commitment. If you want to compare financial aid packages from multiple colleges before deciding, Regular Decision may be a better fit.

How to Apply to Scripps College: Application Checklist

Scripps uses the Common Application for first-year undergraduate admission. Applicants should begin preparing materials well before their deadline, particularly because recommendations and school reports depend on other people.

Choose the correct admission round

Decide whether you are applying Early Decision I, Early Decision II or Regular Decision. Understand the binding nature of Early Decision before selecting it.

Complete the Common Application

Submit the required personal and academic information, application essays and Scripps-specific materials. The current application fee is $60, and eligible applicants can request a financial hardship fee waiver.

Request your counselor recommendation and School Report

Give your school enough time to send the required forms and transcript. Confirm the records have been submitted, especially if your school closes for holidays near the application deadline.

Ask two academic teachers for recommendations

Scripps requires two academic teacher recommendations, preferably from junior- or senior-year classes. Choose teachers who can discuss your academic work in detail.

Decide on optional SAT or ACT scores

Scripps is test-optional. If you submit scores, follow the published upload or email instructions and any deadline for changing your testing decision.

Consider an interview or creative portfolio

An interview is optional. Applicants with relevant artistic work may also submit an optional art, music or dance portfolio through SlideRoom after submitting the Common Application.

Complete separate financial aid requirements

Students requesting need-based assistance should review FAFSA, CSS Profile and supporting document instructions. Do not assume the admissions application automatically serves as a financial aid application.

Track the applicant status portal

Review missing items, updates and decisions. Scripps states that application documents are usually processed within approximately three business days outside holidays and closures, so allow time for document matching.

Official instructions: Scripps College First-Year Applicants.

Can You Apply to Scripps College as a Transgender Student?

Scripps identifies itself as a women’s college and publishes a specific undergraduate admission eligibility policy.

The current first-year admissions page explains that Scripps welcomes applicants who identify as women, including transgender women, under its stated application policy.

Applicants whose legal sex is listed as male or X on the Common Application and who identify as women are eligible to apply. Scripps says it does not require government-issued documents to verify gender identity.

Students who are uncertain how the published policy applies to their situation should contact the admission office directly for guidance rather than rely on a third-party interpretation.

This eligibility policy concerns the undergraduate women’s college; it is separate from admission to graduate or post-baccalaureate programs elsewhere in the institution.

Scripps College Waitlist Acceptance Rate

Scripps uses a waitlist when qualified applicants cannot initially be offered admission. The Fall 2025 Common Data Set provides unusually useful information about what happened to waitlisted applicants that year.

Fall 2025 waitlist measureReported number
Applicants offered a waitlist place537
Applicants accepting a place on the waitlist319
Waitlisted applicants later admitted70
Admission among those accepting a waitlist place21.9%

In other words, approximately 22% of students who accepted a place on the Fall 2025 waitlist were later offered admission.

This result was dramatically different from Fall 2024, when the Common Data Set reported just four waitlist admissions.

What this means for a waitlisted student:

Waitlist movement can change substantially from year to year. The 21.9% figure is a historical result, not a guaranteed chance of admission in 2026 or 2027. Students should continue evaluating other college offers while following Scripps’ waitlist instructions.

What should you do if you are waitlisted?

  • Reply to the waitlist offer by the specified deadline.
  • Follow any instructions about confirming continued interest.
  • Submit meaningful new information only if the college welcomes updates.
  • Keep up your academic performance.
  • Do not miss another college’s enrollment deposit deadline while waiting.

Scripps College Transfer Acceptance Rate and Requirements

Scripps accepts transfer applicants for both fall and spring entry. Transfer admissions use a separate pool and should not be evaluated using the overall first-year acceptance rate.

The Fall 2025 Common Data Set reports:

117

Transfer applicants for Fall 2025.

37

Transfer applicants admitted, producing a 31.6% transfer acceptance rate.

8

Transfer applicants who enrolled in Fall 2025.

Fall and spring

The two entry terms available to Scripps transfer students.

Who counts as a transfer applicant?

Scripps treats students as transfer applicants if they completed college coursework during a semester or quarter after graduating from high school.

Required transfer materials

  • Common Application and the applicable $60 fee or approved waiver.
  • Transfer College Report.
  • Transfer Mid-Term Report.
  • Two academic evaluations.
  • Official transcripts from all secondary schools and colleges attended.
  • Optional SAT or ACT scores, if desired.

Transfer application deadlines

Scripps lists November 15 for spring transfer applications and March 15 for fall transfer applications. Transfer financial aid deadlines are separate; the currently published Fall 2027 financial aid deadline is March 14, 2027.

Transfer admission is not solely a question of GPA. College performance, transferable courses, the reason for transferring and available space in the intended program can all matter.

Official source: Scripps Transfer Applicants.

Scripps College International Admissions

International applicants follow Scripps’ general academic application process, with additional documentation requirements where applicable.

The college’s Fall 2025 international applicant group received offers at a calculated rate of 18.0%, lower than the overall undergraduate admission rate.

That number does not describe individual applicants from India, China, Canada or other countries. It also should not be mistaken for an English-language test cutoff.

English-language testing

Scripps generally requires international applicants educated outside the United States to submit a TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo English Test result, unless they qualify for an approved waiver based on their language background or school instruction.

SAT and ACT testing remains optional.

Foreign transcripts and final examinations

International applicants should provide the required school transcripts and counselor or teacher recommendations. Documents in languages other than English must be accompanied by the required translations and authentication.

Students completing international qualifications such as the IB, A-levels or Indian secondary and higher secondary examinations must submit their final results after enrolling, when applicable.

International application tip:

If your school uses a national curriculum, ask the school counselor how predicted grades and final examination results will be reported to Scripps. Do not wait until January to discover that a required transcript or translation cannot be prepared in time.

Official guidance: Scripps International Applicants.

Scripps Scholarships and Financial Aid for 2027 Entry

A private liberal arts college may have a high published tuition price, but the actual amount families pay depends on institutional grants, scholarships, aid eligibility and living expenses.

Scripps says it meets 100% of each admitted student’s institutionally determined financial need. The college is also need-aware in admission decisions, so financial need may be considered during the selection process.

New grant commitment for 2027–28

Beginning with the 2027–28 academic year, Scripps says students from families with total income of $250,000 or less and typical assets will receive at least $30,000 in Scripps grant aid.

The income threshold is not the only criterion; asset rules and other institutional aid requirements matter.

Merit scholarships

Scripps automatically considers first-year applicants for renewable merit scholarships ranging from $15,000 to $30,000 per year.

No additional merit-scholarship application or early admission round is required under its stated policy. Award recipients are notified at the time of admission.

What does need-aware admission mean?

A need-aware college may consider financial aid requirements while making admission decisions. This does not mean every applicant requiring aid will be rejected, nor does it mean students should hide financial need.

Students who need financial assistance should provide accurate financial information and meet all application deadlines.

FAFSA and CSS Profile

Eligible domestic applicants seeking need-based aid should complete the required FAFSA and CSS Profile processes. International applicants seeking assistance generally use the CSS Profile and supporting documentation according to the college’s international aid instructions.

The Scripps CSS Profile school code is 4693.

Financial aid deadline warning:

Scripps states that late or incomplete aid applications may reduce or eliminate eligibility for certain financial assistance. Early Decision applicants should be especially careful because the admissions commitment is binding while family affordability remains a significant consideration.

Financial aid for international students

Scripps encourages international students who need support to apply, but states that institutional financial aid for international students is limited.

International applicants should review the financial aid requirements early and avoid assuming that the U.S. domestic aid process applies identically to them.

How Scripps Differs from Pomona, Harvey Mudd and Other Claremont Colleges

Scripps is part of The Claremont Colleges, a consortium of neighboring institutions with shared academic and student-life opportunities.

The five undergraduate colleges commonly called the 5Cs are:

  • Scripps College.
  • Pomona College.
  • Claremont McKenna College.
  • Harvey Mudd College.
  • Pitzer College.

The wider consortium also includes Claremont Graduate University and Keck Graduate Institute.

Cross-registration opportunities

Scripps students can take approved classes across the undergraduate colleges. The college’s official academic guidance explains that the shared registration system displays course options from the participating institutions, with academic advisor support and relevant enrollment rules.

This can be valuable for students interested in combining liberal arts study with mathematics, science, economics, languages or interdisciplinary coursework.

A Claremont-specific advantage:

A student can enjoy the small community of Scripps while accessing courses, events and activities across the consortium. During a visit, ask whether the subjects you want are regularly available through cross-registration and whether popular classes have enrollment limitations.

Claremont, California: Practical Campus and Local Tips

Scripps College is located at 1030 Columbia Avenue, Claremont, California 91711, near the San Gabriel Mountains and approximately east of downtown Los Angeles.

The surrounding community feels different from a large university located in central Los Angeles. The Claremont Colleges occupy adjoining campuses, and students can travel between many academic and residential areas on foot or by bicycle.

Visiting Scripps

Scripps offers guided and self-guided campus tours. A guided campus visit typically includes a 15-minute admissions overview, a one-hour student-led tour and additional time for questions, totaling approximately 90 minutes.

Self-guided visits are available during published daytime hours. Registration is required for official guided visits.

Getting to Claremont

The Claremont Transit Center provides Metrolink connections toward Los Angeles Union Station. Students should verify the latest train schedule and service before planning an arrival or commute.

The college also publishes information about Foothill Transit and local Dial-a-Ride services.

Airports and travel costs

Ontario International Airport is substantially closer to Claremont than Los Angeles International Airport. For students flying from another state or country, comparing total travel time and ground transportation can be more useful than comparing airfare alone.

Parking and campus access

Scripps publishes visitor parking and driving instructions for the college area. Parking availability can differ during events, so verify the location of your admissions check-in and any temporary restrictions before arriving.

Local transportation students actually use

Scripps’ family resources explain that students can obtain a semester pass for Foothill Transit buses through the college’s published program. The same resource notes that students may receive discounted Metrolink travel with valid student identification.

Claremont’s Metrolink station is less than a mile south of the Scripps campus, making rail a potential alternative to driving for occasional Los Angeles trips.

Because schedules, discounts and transportation programs can change, students should verify the current rules before relying on them.

Local visit tip:

After your official tour, walk through the adjacent Claremont campuses and the nearby Claremont Village area. Ask current students where they study, buy groceries, spend time with friends and travel when they want to leave campus.

The aim is to understand whether you would enjoy daily life in this particular college environment—not simply whether the architecture looks beautiful in photographs.

Should you visit Scripps to improve your admission chances?

Scripps marks demonstrated interest as not considered in its Common Data Set.

This means a campus tour is not a hidden admission point. Nevertheless, visiting can help a student write more thoughtfully about why Scripps fits their academic and personal goals.

Official local resources: Scripps College Campus Visits, Visit Reservations, Getting to Campus and Transportation Resources for Families.

What Happens After Admission? Retention and Graduation

Scripps’ selectivity matters, but college outcomes can help applicants evaluate the student experience after admission.

The 2025–26 Common Data Set reports that 313 full-time first-year students entered in Fall 2024 and 289 returned in Fall 2025. That produces a retention rate of approximately 92.3%.

The same CDS reports an overall 83% six-year graduation rate for the applicable Fall 2018 entering cohort, after the institution’s reported adjustments.

These are measures of previous student cohorts, not predictions for students who enroll in Fall 2027.

Students should also ask about academic advising, access to faculty, research opportunities, support for students changing majors and graduate-school preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Scripps College Acceptance Rate 2026

What is Scripps College’s acceptance rate for 2026?

The latest complete official Common Data Set reports a 39.9% acceptance rate for Fall 2025: 1,288 students admitted from 3,230 applicants. This is the most recent fully verified figure used in the guide, not a finalized Fall 2026 acceptance rate.

Is Scripps College hard to get into?

Yes. Scripps is selective, with a 39.9% Fall 2025 admission rate and a demanding holistic review that emphasizes academic rigor, grades, essays and personal qualities.

What GPA do you need to get into Scripps?

Scripps does not publish a universal minimum high school GPA or an average enrolled-student GPA for Fall 2025. The college states that differences in weighted and unweighted grading systems make GPA comparisons difficult. Academic performance and course rigor are very important in admission decisions.

What SAT scores are competitive for Scripps College?

Among enrolled Fall 2025 students who submitted scores, the middle 50% SAT composite range was 1430–1500, with a median of 1480. Only 19% of entering students submitted SAT results.

Is Scripps College test-optional?

Yes. SAT and ACT results are optional. Students who do not submit standardized testing are not penalized, and Scripps superscores submitted SAT and ACT results across test dates.

Does Scripps have Early Decision or Early Action?

Scripps offers binding Early Decision I and Early Decision II, as well as nonbinding Regular Decision. It does not offer a separate nonbinding Early Action plan.

What is the Scripps College Early Decision acceptance rate?

For Fall 2025, Scripps received 275 Early Decision applications and admitted 141 students, producing a calculated Early Decision acceptance rate of 51.3%. This result does not guarantee an admissions advantage for an individual applicant.

What is Scripps College’s international acceptance rate?

For Fall 2025, Scripps received 449 international applications and admitted 81 students, a calculated rate of approximately 18.0%. The rate is for the overall international applicant group, not for any individual country.

What is the transfer acceptance rate at Scripps?

Scripps reported 117 transfer applicants and 37 admissions for Fall 2025, giving a transfer acceptance rate of approximately 31.6%. The college enrolled eight transfer students that fall.

When are Scripps College applications due for Fall 2027?

The current first-year application page lists November 16, 2026 for Early Decision I and January 14, 2027 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision. Students should separately verify their financial aid and optional interview deadlines.

Final Assessment: Is Scripps College a Realistic Choice in 2026?

Scripps College is a competitive choice for students who want an intensive liberal arts education in a women’s college setting while benefiting from the larger academic community of The Claremont Colleges.

Its latest verified acceptance rate is 39.9%, but that percentage should not be the only factor in your decision. Scripps emphasizes challenging coursework, strong academic performance, thoughtful essays, recommendations and personal qualities.

Students should compare their preparation with the college’s recommended curriculum, think carefully about the binding Early Decision option and review financial aid deadlines before committing.

A good application should demonstrate more than high grades. It should show what you are curious about, how you approach learning and what you could contribute to the Scripps community. Equally important, you should be confident that the college’s academic style, Claremont location and financial commitments are right for you.
